The world-famous Trent Severn Waterway—which runs for a total length of 386 kilometres, connecting Lake Ontario with Georgian Bay with more than 44 locks and 32 kilometres of man-made canals—flows straight through the heart of the Kawarthas.

Lang Pioneer Village, about 15 minutes outside of Peterborough near the village of Keene, is a great place for families. Set on 25 acres of land next to a mill pond and around a village green, Lang features more than 25 restored buildings, including a functional grist mill where whole wheat is still churned into flour. The village turns the clock back to simpler times and creates an immersive experience.
